Director's Statement

The Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade is obviously devastating to accessible reproductive healthcare and bodily autonomy, and an affront to GenCen's values of gender and sexual equity for all. We want our affiliates, students, and supporters to know that the GenCen will continue our work of supporting feminist education and knowledge production emphasizing abortion care as a human right. We are also part of the MSU Abortion Care Task Force, a collaboration of MSU offices working urgently to identify ways that MSU can address the needs of students needing abortion care.

We are including information about protests happening in Lansing and across the country, including a rally at the Lansing State Capital tonight (June 24, 2022) at 5:00pm organized by Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan.

We are encouraged by President Stanley's email expressing MSU's commitment to abortion access as critical to sustainable health and as a human right. We affirm his statement, and are enthusiastic to work with his administration to ensure that all people at MSU get the healthcare they need and deserve.
