Do you know someone who fights for gender equity and social justice in mid-Michigan and/or at Michigan State University? Nominations will open soon for the 2025 Inspiration Awards! We welcome nominations of all individuals, but especially encourage the recognition of women and individuals from marginalized populations.
The Inspiration Awards highlight MSU employees, MSU students, and Mid-Michigan community members who demonstrate inclusive action and influence in working towards gender equity and social justice. Up to seven awards are presented annually in the following categories:
Individuals nominated for the Professional Achievement award should demonstrate a unique drive and passion within their career and positively influences the culture of Michigan State University. The winner of the Professional Achievement award will be an MSU employee.
Individuals nominated for the Culture of Empowerment award should demonstrate a dedication to the advancement and empowerment of women in communities locally and/or globally through mentoring, programs, and other leadership opportunities. The Culture of Empowerment award will have two winners: one MSU employee and one Mid-Michigan community member.
Individuals nominated for the Community Engagement award should demonstrate a commitment to advancing equity in communities or organizations through service, volunteerism, mentoring, and/or leadership. The Community Engagement award will have two winners: one MSU employee and one Mid-Michigan community member.
Individuals nominated for the Student Leader award should demonstrate a commitment to advancing equity and improving the lives of women and others impacted by gender-based oppression through community engagement, research/scholarship, leadership development, and/or student activism. The Student Leader award typically has two recipients: one MSU undergraduate student and one MSU graduate or professional student.
