 | Sheila ContrerasSheila Contreras is Director of the Chicano/Latino Studies program and is Associate Professor of English. Her research and teaching interests include Chicana/o Literature, Modern Primitivisms, Multiethnic literatures, the literatures and theories of travel and tourism, American Studies and Women's Studies. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in the Department of English, Chicano/Latino Studies and Women’s Studies. Her courses include Introduction to Chicano/Latino Literature (ENG 351), Introduction to Women’s Studies (WS 201), Literatures, Cultures, Identities (IAH 207), and graduate courses such as Let's Go Mexico: Travel, Tourism and Revolution in the Early-Twentieth Century, Nationalisms and Feminisms in the United States and Latina Feminisms. Her book, Blood Lines: Myth, Indigenism and Chicana/o Literature was published by the University of Texas Press in 2008, and received Honorable Mention in the Modern Language Association’s Book Prize in Chicana and Chicano and Latina and Latino Literary and Cultural Studies. Her new project is titled Mestizaje/Métissage: Post-Conquest Literary Cultures in the Americas. |
