Soma Chaudhuri

Research focuses on deviant behavior, collective violence and social movements with a special focus on gender. She is currently interested in how small groups mobilize before acts of collective violence (as during witch hunts, riots, or genocides) and how can the formation of violent groups be prevented. Related to this, she is also interested in how a community develops counter groups that prevent the formation of violent groups (groups that legitimize and perform violence against the credible threats).
