On Friday, April 28, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 29, at 2:00 p.m., a student performance of AFTER/LIFE will take place in the RCAH Theater.

AFTER/LIFE commemorates Detroit's 1967 rebellion and tells the story of its aftermath from the perspectives of the overlooked thousands of women and girls who chased police, lit fires, threw bricks, shoplifted, and much more. Conceived and written by Lisa Biggs, assistant professor at the MSU Residential College in the Arts and Humanities, AFTER/LIFE is an original performance that braids together oral histories, theater, poetry, and dance to challenge popular misconceptions about why 12th Street residents rose up to burn their city down. Audiences will learn what really motivated the unrest, and about the determination of Detroit's women and girls' to rebuild their city and their lives after.

Performances are free and open to the public. Age 8+.
